Brown Pelican

One of the two pelican species living in Florida, the Brown Pelican (Pelecanus Occidentalis) is also the smallest of the eight pelican species in the world! Although it’s Wikipedia page says “small”, it’s not tiny by any means, as it is over a meter long! The birds living near Sunshine Skyway bridge,  the numerous birds in St.Marks Wildlife refuge and elsewhere in Florida, all of them are amazing. You can just take out your chair, get a cold drink and observe how they hunt, going head down into water and coming out with fish. They seem clumsy on land, but they are hunting machines in the water.
