Green Mango

mango cuba caribbean season cuban diverse fruit

On the way back from Trinidad to Cienfuegos, we ask our driver to stop at the side of the road. It’s very beautiful here – mountains covered in storm clouds, and it’s still raining. There is a mango tree right next to the road, but behind an impressive barbed wire fence. That does not stop our driver, and soon he is right behind the fence picking mangoes straight from the tree! His wife says that they are not good, and these are really not that aromatic as ripe ones.
