About the Book:

Alīna and Jēkabs Andrušaitis are Latvian travelers who have visited 60 countries, using only their vacation time, as they both work full-time jobs. Their history as travel storytellers began with a win in a National Geographic travel story competition, after which they decided to establish the blog www.sapnumedniece.lv.

The book “Sapņu mednieku ceļojums: sasniedzot jaunas virsotnes” contains our adventures in more than 19 countries – from Arctic Svalbard in Norway to the contrasting Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina; from the grandiose Iguazu Falls in Brazil to the futuristic Supertrees in Singapore; both in distant lands and in distinctive places in Latvia and neighboring countries. The travel notes and splendid photographs are supplemented with insights behind the scenes of the blog and travel outtakes.

Reader Reviews for the Book:

“The book is a journey both across the world map and into the multilayered inner world of a person, including feelings, courage, and the desire not to betray one’s dreams. Reading it creates a feeling of presence. The authors honestly reveal the brilliance of their journeys, the behind-the-scenes moments, and even the moments when they wanted to give up. Alīna’s ability to capture experiences with words and Jēkabs’ talent for capturing adventures in photographs are truly admirable. A great book that expands the reader’s world and, at the same time, reminds us how valuable it is to openly talk about your journey. It inspires. It draws you in. It helps you believe that our dreams can also be fulfilled.”

Zane Nuts, lawyer, writer, author of the novels “Praktiskā kokvilna,” “Latvietes nevar nemīlēt,” and other books

“Whose mind hasn’t been tempted by the thought of how much they would like to continue their journey at the end of it? Intensive traveling is a lifestyle for the Dream Hunters—it’s their work, duty, and free time simultaneously. The stories about the unique Svalbard, visiting Malaysian durian gardens where the fruit ‘smells like hell, tastes like heaven,’ bear watching from a hide, and a tour of a recently closed correctional facility right here in the Baltics are especially captivating. Near and distant destinations beckon you to go there yourself.”

Kaspars Gēgeris, head of the travel agency “Ceļojumu bode” and an experienced traveler

“The narrative takes you from trips to the bogs near Rīga and around the Latgale lakes to the oceans of Asia and even more distant points in the world. The book is not only about traveling—it’s about real life. A significant part of it consists of the photographs, which provide visual pleasure and allow you to truly feel what the storytellers experienced. The most vivid guide that I, too, will use. Since I organize and lead bicycle tours in different corners of the world, I value not only the kilometers and destinations but also the stories that reflect how a traveler truly feels—with all the fatigue, moments of happiness, and unexpected turns. The book is honest, personal, and at the same time inspiring. It creates a desire to go even further.”
