New Orleans Blue Hour

new orleans after dark skyline blue hour

The trick of making magical night city photographs? Don’t go during the night, but during the “blue hour”, when the sky is not pitch black but just getting dark. That’s the time of the day when you are most likely to meet a number of photographers with tripods, who might not even know each other, but are chatting and enjoying themselves. My husband is a photographer, so quite often I find myself running from the car with a tripod behind him and shouting “run, run, we still have some time!”. And we do, most of the times we have managed to park the car and be just a few minutes early to find a good spot, walk around a bit and make beautiful pictures like this lovely ship in New Orleans.
