We had never heard of Santa Rosa island until we started driving through it. It is an barrier island in Florida and is most famous for Spanish conquistadors settlement found in 1559. I liked it for a different reasons – it was very strange to be able to see water on both sides when driving on it. Definitely not recommended during storm, as  I am sure the waves would crush over it. I believe Santa Rosa island is one of the most beautiful places I saw last year, the list of my favorites is available here.
