Santorini is what remains of island after one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history: the Minoan eruption 3600 years ago. It is believed that it might have led to the collapse of Minoan civilization on Crete because of a devastating tsunami, and is the reason behind the legend of Atlantis. If you ever come visit this place, you will learn a lot more about the Minoan civilization at the Museum of Prehistoric Thira. Apart from museums, there are also few other things to do, read more about my visit to Santorini while and Erasmus student in Greece here.
